The
Canadian Embroiderers' Guild, London was
established in 1971 under the patronage of Constance Howard of the
Embroiderers’ Guild in Britain and
was
a founding member of the Ontario Network of Needleworkers, an
organization that encourages communication among its 22 member
guilds about activities, events and available resources.
When the opportunity
presents itself, the Guild extends its influence to the community:
- Mastectomy
Bags: Periodic workshops are held to produce fabric bags designed
specifically to hold the drainage equipment needed by patients after
mastectomy surgery. These
bags are donated to the hospitals for distribution to patients.
- The
members have been very supportive of an Outreach project
knitting scarves, hats and mitts for the Salvation Army to give
to the homeless.
- Partnership
with My Sister's Place, supporting women in transition by
encouraging their creativity in stictching.
